Countryside Leader Award - Training

This 2 day course is designed for teachers and leaders who wish to lead groups on walks in lowland countryside including the White Peak to prepare for successful assessment.

This course will provide all candidates with a detailed action plan to support them moving through to assessment.

The course is applicable to teachers leading day walks and leaders of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award bronze and silver expeditions.

The course will involve a night under canvas.

Key syllabus areas:

  • navigation
  • group management
  • camp-craft
  • dealing with emergency situations

As a training course, all potential candidates should consult the CLA prospectus and syllabus before applying for this course.

Candidates should have experience of countryside walking.

Course requirements:

Enthusiasm for leading others in lowland countryside.
