Countryside Leader Award - Assessment
This 1 night :1 day assessment course is designed for teachers and leaders who wish to lead groups on walks in lowland countryside including the White Peak.
The course is applicable to teachers leading day walks and leaders of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award bronze and silver expeditions.
Part of the course will involve camping overnight.

- As an assessment, all potential candidates should consult the CLA prospectus and syllabus before applying for this course. Please contact awards office for a copy.
- Candidates may wish to attend the (optional) CLA training weekend which will provide them with a detailed action plan before assessment.
- Candidates should have experience of countryside walking.
Course requirements
To gain the award completion certificate, leaders need to:
- complete pre-assessment tasks which include route planning exercise, home paper and questionaire
- provide evidence of sufficient experience. (At least 20 different countryside walks of 4 hours or more and minimum of 10 nights camping before assesment over 1 year period)
- demonstrate the competence required
- evidence a current (6 - 8 hours) first aid certificate
