Home Education Winter Survival Day at Sherwood Forest 2023
Join us at Sherwood Forest for a WINTER SURVIVAL themed day where you will learn about animals and how they survive the cold winter months. Learn about migration and hibernation and understand how animals adapt to survive in their habitats.
The children will be introduced to Doug the Dormouse and their challenge of keeping him warm throughout the winter
Each group then sets up their own dormouse nest and scientific investigation
Selection of activities will begin whilst checking the scientific investigation at certain intervals.
Look at results and draw conclusions together as a group
Lunch
Afternoon session starts with a winter bird walk where children identify and tally different types of birds in the forest. Upon returning to the classroom, children make pinecone bird feeders to take back home.
Suitable for age 6 and upwards as this day involves recording and looking at data and measuring temperatures.
10.30am till 2.00pm. (Please do not arrive prior to 10.15am on your chosen activity day)
£8.50 per child.
One adult place allocated automatically with each booking/per family so if you have three children, you will be allocated one adult space. If you need to bring a second adult for medical or other reasons, please contact Katie on the email below.
